MOCEAN assisted Horizon Nuclear Power in the Planning and Execution of Offshore and Onshore Geotechnical Investigations for the development of a Roll on / Roll off port facility and breakwater at their proposed Advanced Boiling Water Reactor site in Anglesey, North Wales.
The site was scheduled to be one of the first new nuclear power stations constructed in the UK since the mid 1980’s and MOCEAN were able to bring practical marine delivery experience & advanced project skills to our client, adding value, reducing costs and effectively managing risk.
Combined with the challenging backdrop of heavy regulatory monitoring and a harsh physical environment, our project team was responsible for delivering the detailed onshore and offshore ground investigations. This included the management of the statutory licensing and planning process, as well as a complex competitive procurement exercise requiring detailed risk identification and mitigation, as we worked with the engineering teams to develop the most effective work programme.
We achieved the high standards of safety, environmental responsibility, technical innovation and operational performance expected for both the land and marine operations component of a Nuclear build.
MOCEAN was pleased to be working with Horizon in the successful delivery of one of the most challenging and interesting Ground Investigations in the UK in decades.
In addition to this project, we offer professional advice, practical solutions and project management expertise able to effectively resolve a wealth of technical challenges in some for the most complex working environments.
